Alashiya is a perfumery. Its scents are created entirely from plant extracts, hand-mixed and bottled by founder Omar Suleyman.

Our perfumes were created based on the central belief that fragrance is an essential, everyday pleasure that should be affordable to as many as possible. 

Alashiya’s fragrances embrace the delicate qualities of natural ingredients. Since they don't contain any synthetic chemicals and preservatives, their smells change as the weeks pass. Alashiya perfumes interact with each wearer's unique smell as the wearers’ natural smell also changes over the months.

Informed by his professional background as a scientist, London-native Omar established Alashiya perfumery after being inspired by his childhood summers spent in his familial home of Cyprus. Omar wanted to capture the experience of his most beloved place through smell, since he spent much of his time living and working in London, where much of his community was also based. His idea was to use the comforting experience of perfume to transport himself and his loved ones to Cyprus year-round. 

Alashiya’s debut trio of scents, Ashera, Astarte and Anat, are the results of this idea. Each perfume takes its name from a goddess of the pre-Abrahamic religions of the Ancient Near East. Aphrodite, the goddess worshipped across West Asia since the first century BC, was born in the image of these three goddesses in Cyprus - the ancient home of perfume.

Alashiya perfumes are refined versions of fragrances which Omar originally created for himself and friends. Alashiya takes inspiration from ancient Cypriot custom, where working people particularly made and wore their own perfumes. Our values are that fragrance should not be a preserve of the elite, and should be shared and given to people along lines of affinity and to create everyday joy.
